History

In the year 1910 Kaspar Winkler laid the foundations for the present-day Sika Group in Zurich. His first product, Sika-1, a watersealing mortar additive, remains widely used to this day.

In 2010, Sika celebrated its 100-year anniversary. Developing innovative products and solutions and being consistent towards all stakeholders have made it possible for Sika to grow throughout its first century. We have subsidiaries in 98 countries and manufacture in over 190 factories. Our more than 17,000 employees generated annual sales of CHF 5.75 billion in 2016.

In 2016, Sika spent CHF 161.4 million on research and development (previous year: CHF 160.6 million). Sika made 84 invention disclosures in 2016 (previous year: 87) and filed for 72 patents (previous year: 70).

The umbrella brand Sika together with some 838 Sika product trademarks, such as Sikaflex®, Sika®Viscocrete®, SikaBond® or SikaForce®, sharpen our company’s competitive edge.
